Sorry Not Sorry: an Evening of Shame-Exploding
Created & Hosted by Izzy Castaldi
Co-produced & co-directed by Sandy d'Oria
Accompanied by Jacob Jarrett

Shame comes in many forms: from the minor embarrassments, to the major crises of identity, to the tiny voice inside that tells you in little ways, every day, that you don’t belong. But where does shame come from, and how can we get rid of it? Or, how can we embrace it, instead of deny it? What happens after?

With an evening of comedy, music, storytelling, and theatrical wonderments, a group of performers will attempt to confront the tricky parts of themselves that live in this spectrum of shame--and in doing so, make those things we all feel shame about feel a little bit sillier.

Join our host Izzy Castaldi as they ask the questions that have been baffling scientists around the world for decades, like: How come I’m still embarrassed about that time I called my teacher “Mom” in 1st grade? Will I ever take the time to really learn how taxes work, or will I just keep approximating until one day, the IRS hunts me like an animal? Can we realistically pass a law by 2025 to make every boy go to therapy?

With performances by some of the tri-state area’s most breathtaking not-straight people, including: Futaba Shioda, Joshuah Dominique, Shannon Fahey, and more!

Tank-aret is a monthly cabaret series now in its second year at The Tank. Curated by musical theater writing team EllaRose Chary and Brandon James Gwinn (Dramatists Guild Fellows; Ars Nova Uncharted Residents; Cotton Candy and Cocaine; TL;DR: Thelma Louise: Dyke Remix). Every month Tank-aret will feature an evening of exciting new work by artists not traditionally represented in cabaret and musical theater spaces. The intention is to lift up the voices of women, queer and trans artists, artists of color, differently abled artists, and anyone else who has some cabaret magic!
