House of Legendary is the story of a famed drag performer Dee Legendary as they embark on a passionate love affair with Officer John, whose fascination with Dee takes an unexpected and dangerous turn. A contemporary riff on La traviata, House of Legendary is an exploration of queer family set against the backdrop of NYC’s 1980s ballroom scene.

Composed by Joseph N. Rubinstein and libretto by Jason Kim, both alumni of AOP’s Composers and the Voice training program (cycle 7).

The development of House of Legendary is supported in part by a Repertoire Development Grant from OPERA America’s Opera Fund.

*Please note that this performance will be presented at the Tank's in-person performance space at 312 W 36th St. All attendees and artists will be required to have a covid vaccination before being admitted to the space. Patrons will also be required to wear masks, when not eating or drinking.
