The Bechdel Group's Fall Workshop

  • The Tank NYC 312 West 36th St New York, NY 10018 (map)

We are delighted to present selections from

Parts and Pieces, by Amy Tofte "Two estranged siblings meet to negotiate an inheritance and repair years of misunderstanding between them. Particularly, one sibling's transition to gender neutral."

And

Crooked Numbers, by Ellen Margolis "Woodstock, New York. 1979. Fifteen-year-old Dusty has been set aside for a while, sent to live with her Aunt Fran while her father awaits a new baby with his young wife. Fran, her hands more than full with a struggling business and a dying partner, takes Dusty in for a bit of money that she wouldn't otherwise accept from her brother--while Dusty is mainly in it for the proximity to the Baseball Hall of Fame."

The Bechdel Groups Workshop Series is a series of readings and discussions around new work in progress. We invite all actors, directors, dramaturgs, playwrights, and theatre lovers to join us for a festive, friendly, informal community evening of discussion around new work.

The Bechdel Group is a New York City based group that hosts a series of readings and discussions of new work and works in progress. Our mission is to challenge the accepted portrayal of women on stage. Our goals are to: promote writers writing for women, create more roles for women, and foster an active and engaged community of actors, playwrights, directors, dramaturgs, and theatre lovers.
