Chemistry, by Jacob Marx Rice, is a two-person romance about mental illness. Jamie and Stephanie (one manic, one depressive) meet in a psychiatrist’s office and turn out to be wildly compatible-- their diagnoses, less so. As they continue to resist (and sometimes nurture) their own conditions, their lives boil down to the passionate struggle of saving each other. This production for DarkFest will heighten and explore their battle to keep the darkness at bay, with flashlights, LED lights, the stars, and some help from the audience. Directed by Emma Rosa Went, featuring Jovan Davis and Juliana Bearse.
